Rene Xelo Sosa
Chef Rene was born and raised in Puebla, Mexico. His family came to the States 30 years ago and settled in the Hudson Valley area. Chef Rene developed a passion for culinary at a young age and knew he wanted to run his own kitchen one day. He began his culinary career as a dishwasher, working his way up to line cook, sous chef and eventually executive chef. Throughout his tenure in NY, Sosa has worked at some high-end establishments as Peter Lugers Steakhouse, Ruth Chris Steakhouse at the Marriott Tarrytown, and Willet House in Port Chester, where Chef Rene spent 18 years as head chef. In 2016 Chef Rene joined the Bobby Van team at Time Hotel as Executive Chef. Sosa has transitioned the restaurant from Bobby Van to The Grille at Hotel Nyack in 2020 and most recently to FARM at Hotel Nyack. Chef Rene uses flavors and techniques from his home country and loves to incorporate local ingredients from the Hudson Valley and tri-state area whenever possible.
